Default Legal Aid Ontario lowers strict requirements

Canadian residents, specifically those that reside in Ontario know the woes of getting legal representation on a low income.
More so than ever, those that are one penny above the qualification standard in terms of income are left to pay on their own with the strict qualification standards. They have finally amended these rules to server those that would not be able to pay on their own but are slightly above the qualification line.

Great news for Ottawa residents looking for legal representation on a low income. Ontarians on low-income will now benefit from a newer version of a financial test that determines whether clients qualify for a legal aid certificate.

Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) is implementing its simplified financial eligibility test, which will make it easier for clients to apply for legal aid certificates. The new test is faster, simpler to administer and requires less client documentation enabling clients to move forward with their legal matter more quickly.
