The Phoenix School of Law is a private law school located in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. The school opened its doors in January 2005. Phoenix Law is the only private "for-profit" law school in Arizona and the only one with both a part-time evening program and full-time program. The school is not affiliated with the similarly named University of Phoenix. Phoenix Law received provisional approval for accreditation by the American Bar Association in June 2007.

Gene Clark, Interim Dean

Ranking

The school was unranked in the 2010 edition of the U.S News and World Report rankings. The median LSAT score and GPA for entering full-time students were 151 and 3.12, respectively. In 2008, 97% of the inaugural graduating class passed the Arizona bar exam.

ABA Accreditation

Phoenix School of Law is provisionally approved by the Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar of the American Bar Association (ABA). The ABA Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar is located at 321 North Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60610 [Phone: 312-988-5000].

According to the ABA, "A school that is provisionally approved is entitled to all the rights of a fully approved law school. Similarly, graduates of provisionally approved law schools are entitled to the same recognition that is accorded graduates of fully approved schools."

Academic Offerings

Clinical Programs: Phoenix School of Law houses a Mediation Clinic and is building other clinical programs designed to develop and enhance practice skills. Courses are offered in trial and appellate practice, mediation, and alternative methods of dispute resolution. Clinical methods are used in various courses throughout the curriculum.

Externships: Phoenix School of Law offers qualified, upper-level students in good academic standing opportunities to participate in a for-credit externship program. Students attend a classroom component that provides a link between the placement setting and the learning process. A faculty member coordinates and supervises the externship program.
