Default List of Law Schools and Law Faculties in Canada: Common and Civil Law

Canada is mostly a common law jurisdiction. However, the province of Quebec uses the civil law system for private law matters. As a result, Quebec's French language law schools are exclusively civil law schools.

Schools offering dual degrees or choice of system
  • McGill University, Faculty of Law - Integrates both components in a 3, 3.5 or 4 year (at the student's option) study called the Trans-Systemic Programme. This is a development of the National Programme that is still offered at the University of Ottawa.
  • University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law - Complete an additional year to complement either degree with the other program.

Schools teaching civil law
  • Université de Montréal, Faculté de droit
  • Université du Québec à Montréal, Département des sciences juridiques
  • Université de Sherbrooke, Faculté de droit
  • Université Laval, Faculté de droit
  • University of Ottawa, Faculté de droit civil

Schools teaching common law
  • Dalhousie University, Dalhousie Law School
  • Queen's University, Faculty of Law
  • Université de Moncton, École de droit
  • University of Alberta, Faculty of Law
  • University of British Columbia, Faculty of Law
  • University of Calgary, Faculty of Law
  • University of Manitoba, Faculty of Law
  • University of New Brunswick, Faculty of Law
  • University of Ottawa, Faculty of Common Law
  • University of Saskatchewan, College of Law
  • University of Toronto, Faculty of Law
  • University of Victoria, Faculty of Law
  • University of Western Ontario, Faculty of Law
  • University of Windsor, Faculty of Law
  • York University, Osgoode Hall Law School

Private Law Schools

Amicus Curiae Professional Law School is a law school for (1) non-Canadians lawyers, as well as Canadians/non-Canadians who are in possession of a non-Canadian law degree, who are seeking admission to practice law in Canada; and (2) anyone without any background in law seeking to study Canadian law or wishing to audit specific courses in Canadian law.

There are also many school that offering dual courses are following:
1.McGill University, Faculty of Law
2.University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law
3.University of Windsor, Faculty of Law
4.York University, Osgoode Hall Law School
