Default Law schools are making their grading systems more lenient



Evidently, this humble scribe went to law school at the wrong time.

Now, it seems, like you can waltz into Contracts class mid-semester and count on an A.

That’s one reading of today’s front-page story in NYT about grade inflation at law schools.

In the last 2 years, NYT reports, at least 10 law schools have changed their grading systems to make them more lenient, including NYU, Georgetown, Tulane, and USC.

It’s not clear why all the schools have boosted their grading scales, but some are doing it to help students, in a dire job market, land jobs.
