Birmingham City University offering qualifying law degrees recognised in England, Wales and Northern Ireland
Birmingham City University (formerly Birmingham Polytechnic and the University of Central England in Birmingham) is a University in the city of Birmingham, England. It is one of three Universities in the city, the other two being the University of Birmingham and Aston University. The School of Law The School of Law is one of the three academic divisions comprising the Faculty of Education, Law and Social Sciences. We were the first to offer undergraduate and postgraduate students the opportunity for study placements with death penalty appeal advocates in the USA, and a unique HND programme in Legal Studies in partnership with local further education colleges. We also pioneered the Free Representation Unit giving students the opportunity to provide legal advice and tribunal representation in employment law and welfare benefits cases. The School of Law has it's own mock courtroom: About the School of Law Legal Studies HND This two-year full-time course is offered in partnership by Birmingham City University with Sutton Coldfield College. The legal profession recognises the Certificate of Higher Education (Law) as providing exemption from Stage One of a Law degree. Students are enrolled at Birmingham City University and attend at Sutton Coldfield College for lectures, seminars, tutorials and workshops. For one or two days a week students are taught at Birmingham City University alongside the LLB students. Students can enjoy the facilities of both institutions and have access to and borrowing rights from Birmingham City University library, computer resources and resource centres. This collaborative teaching and learning arrangement recognises that students on the course are Birmingham City University students and able to experience educational and social activities alongside the full time LLB students.
