Re: Can Amazon.com legally close my account for too many returns?

EU regulators are questioning merchants and others on U.S. online retailer Amazon's use of their data to discover whether there is a need for action, Europe's antitrust chief said on Wednesday.

The comments by European Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager came as the world's largest online retailer faces calls for more regulatory intervention and even its potential break-up because of its sheer size. Vestager said the issue was about a company hosting merchants on its site and at the same time competing with these same retailers by using their data for its own sales.

eBay is another one that cuts accounts with little or no explanation.

They are probably even worse than Amazon.

Just about anything you can buy on Amazon can be had other places.

Yeah but not all in one place. I think Amazon IS a monopoly (or something not legal) at least as to the site and delivery services, what real other options exist? There is no big competitor of them and they use profits from their other businesses (like cloud computing services) to undercut prices on the sale of goods. How can any small business match that?

These monopolies can get away with anything these days.

Can I prevail if I challenge them in court?
Their policy says they will accept all returns so how have I violated their agreement?
I have only returned 7 items in the last year. That does not seem extreme to me. And I
purchased over 40 items.

I had only TWO returns and they closed my account. They said the account had suspicious behavior but never detailed what that behavior was.

That's right.

I find the same vendors on Amazon selling on eBay at better prices with free shipping (with no gimmicks) and eBay has a guarantee for buyer satisfaction.

If not, then where did you get that idea?
Nothing except that "terms of service appear to have been violated" .

I guess one can supposedly appeal it but who has the time for all of that?
