They should make all attorneys go through an ethics examination every year!
And weed out these scoundrels.

It doesn't matter what YOU say it is. It only matters what the state Bar says.

Since the OP is apparently not coming back to answer questions this is all a waste of time.

Just FYI
The discussion is over and done with. These extraneous comments that people are making are meaningless and contribute nothing.

Really? After all these months I don't think anyone, especially the OP, cares.

Re: Attorney slept with my ex-wife

Alright, if it was your attorney who screwed your ex-wife and it was during the representation, that is pretty bad. If he screwed her before he represented you, it probably ended on a bad note and didn't hurt you at all. If it was after he represented you, it isn't your business.

If it was her attorney and he was collecting a "couch fee" for services, he is just a POS and you really shouldn't worry about it. It didn't give her any strategic advantage. Any attorney that takes a couch fee isn't that great an attorney to begin with. I'll take my hourly fee rather than a roll in the hay every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Full disclosure: I don't do family law. I charge flat fee, not hourly. I practice criminal defense. Any criminal defense attorney who takes a couch fee is going to wind up without a law license and a scorching case of something.

There is no dispute about the facts, but is that legal or ethical of the attorney? Could he be disciplined by the BAR for that?
why do you care
