Is it legal for a doctor to refuse a viagra prescription?

Is it legal for a doctor to refuse a viagra prescription if you ask for it?
And he gives me no reason that is medically based.

I mean who is he to say it shouldn't be used.
It IS a legal drug.

it certainly is legal. you should ask the doctor why the refusal. there are a lot of situations where viagra is contraindicated. look viagra up on medline or one of the other medical lookup pages. you can also consult wikipedia.

Your dr is under no obligation to prescribe what you want. Did he give a reason? It’s not the safest drug.

If a doctor refuses to prescribe a medicine, s/he will have reasons to act so. You could not insist a doctor to prescribe a particular medicine for you. The doctor may have valid reason for refusing Viagra to you.

It IS a legal drug.

Every doctor has to use his professional opinion for EVERY prescription that he gives and each patient is different. If the doctor does not believe the prescription is appropriate for that patient, he cannot prescribe it.

In my personal opinion, 70% of the requests should probably be rejected.
It IS a prescription drug by the way not some candy for pure pleasure.

Unless you are a dr that’s completely irrelevant.

You should know a healthy sex life is important to a healthy marriage. Also it’s used for other conditions.

Ask your doctor for the reason. Maybe because it involves a lot of contradiction that's why he is refusing to give.

A doctor can refuse a prescription for any reason that he or she feels is justified.
And there are hundreds of potential reasons.
