If you are just setting up a very small nonprofit, say for a neighborhood improvement project or the like, it is quite simple, see the rules and see the discussions here in the forum.

I would check those terms of service carefully, it's quite common for the airlines to have that policy that you must be a member and record your flight before you fly, and that you can't get miles...

MasterCard will replace any lost or damaged card within 24 hours if you are in New York City, they will even deliver it to the hotel, so the story he tells doesn't really add up.

You certainly can try to negotiate, though you are not in a great position having defaulted on the loan. But it's always worth trying to negotiate, the creditors want payment in one way or another...
