Default Alternating six months custody?

Does divided time 6 months mother then 6 months father make sense and do courts allow it? Isn't that disruptive to the child? Our son is seven.

My soon to be ex strongly proposes that but it seems nonsense to me.

Makes more sense to me than bouncing the kid back and forth weekends, during the week, holidays, vacation, and fighting over the schedule when something comes up.

Better continuity if the child is in one place for long periods of time.

Could work out if the parents don't live too far apart and are both regularly involved in the child's activities.

However, if the parent is planning on preventing the ex from seeing the child for the whole six months, no, that doesn't work.

The court will allow whatever the parents can reasonably agree to.

I wish to inform you that in the matters of a child, the Court considers the best interests of the child in coming to a decision. You may propose an alternative custody arrangement to the other parent and the court and analyze why it is in the best interests of the child. The court will consider all the facts and decide the matter. You may contact an attorney and seek guidance.

Give dad every other weekend.
He should be happy with that. That's what I did and it works fine!

If the father of the child pleads for such a custody order you can contest it with valid reasons. After scrutinizing the pleadings the court will order a custody based on whether the arrangements are in the best interest of the child.

That DOES seem disruptive to me and since the school year is 9 months normally, how would that work smoothly? Maybe 9 months and 3 months is the better solution.

Kind of depends where you both live too...if eg you are in the same town, that opens up more options then say if one is in NY and the other in AZ.

I have never heard of a judge doing that, but I have this article on everything to do about child custody. Hope this helps. https://www.hildebrandlaw.com/parent...custody-cases/

The Court will decide the custody time only after considering the best interest of the child. If the Court finds that the current plan will not badly affect the child court will order so.
