    Bench warrant issued in Texas

Is a bench warrant issued in Texas (for failing to appear after being ordered to do so, for a deposition) enforceable in California?

    Thank you.

Theoretically, yes. But whether you get picked up and extradited depends on how serious the authorities want you for that deposition.

    What's it about.

You would be arrested and held until the originating agency could be contacted and the warrant confirmed, then the question of extradition would come up.

Even if you couldn't be extradited you could potentially spend a long weekend sitting in a jail cell.

If it's a civil case it is not likely they will go after you in California, or extradite you even if stopped by CA police for some other issue. Thousands of bench warrants are issued constantly...

But it is certainly not good to have that hanging over your head.

Normally a state will act upon the bench warrant of another state. But this may vary depends on the depth of the case.

Any warrant can come back to haunt you when you least expect it so my strong advice is get it resolved one way or another.

I had had a bw outstanding for 17 years in TX, and never had a problem.
I live in Oregon now. So I guess you never know.
