Default Unlawful detainer. I didn’t get a court date

NY

I got an unlawful detainer. I didn’t get a court date or really understood it.
Now I have a Request for entry default. What are my options and are they putting me out?! Will they except my rent?

It would help to know the back story. How far behind in the rent are you?

You should have talked to a lawyer.

One option that comes to mind is you file a response to the request stating why you think it shouldn't be granted. No way to predict how that turn out.

If the landlord is granted a writ of possession then putting you out will be the next step.

That's up to the landlord. Ask.

Just understand that, at this point, you owe more than rent. You also owe court costs, process service fees, and maybe attorney fees if the lease had an attorney fee provision.

If you can prove that you are not a defaulter court will not pass an order against you. It is good to consult a lawyer in this case if you want to contest the case.
