Default How can I protect myself from liability when signing my name?

How can I protect myself from liability when signing my name on anything. (contracts, checks, electronic etc) The problem is the fine print or wording that a person cant understand whether i took time out to read it or not.

The obvious answer is don't sign it if you don't understand it.

Or, if you want what you are signing for bad enough, take it to an attorney who will read it and explain it to you.

When you sign something it’s assumed you know the contents and what you agreed to.

In such a situation you should seek the help of a lawyer to understand the clauses mentioned in the contract and to check whether there is any clause detrimental to your interests. Only after getting a clarity regarding the clauses you can sign the document.

Also don't sign anything if you don't trust the other side or if the the business is not reputable. A reputable business is not going to try to trick you--usually.

Unfortunately in today's click and sign world there is not much you can do if you want to use the providers' products, especially online.
If you mean for larger individual contracts such as a home repair project or some other business dealings, then you have to read it carefully and if you don't understand anything, decide if it merits spending funds to have legal counsel review and discuss with you.
Dealing with reputable parties can save you a lot of headaches.
