Unless you were in CA, enjoy your new vehicle.

I bought a used car but the paper we signed does not say anything about "as is" or anything else? It just has the price and seller and buyer basically.
Now the seller says it means "as is" ?

Is that true?
5 days after having the car it has a serious transmission issue.

Unless it is in CA which requires the car pass smog, you have no recourse. All sales are assumed as is absent language to the contrary. You should have had it inspected prior to purchase.

The transmission is out in this car 4 days after I bought it.
The seller would have had to have known that,
Is there anything I can do or am I just screwed,
I paid 1800 bucks!

If you bought it as is, it will be difficult to have any remedy. We normally always suggest you have a mechanic review a used car sale.

Unless they outright lied there is little you can do.
If they said nothing then the "as is" stands.

And even if they lied you would have to prove it in court.
Not easy to do!

We settled for a 250 dollar refund.
I thought I better take what I could get!
Thanks to all!!

Next time take it to a mechanic for inspection. The $50 opinion is worth it in your situation.

Everybody and every poster on this forum is constantly saying do not buy a car as is without an inspection.

Does the same apply to a motorbike?

If you buy it "as is" and seven days later there is a major problem are you just out of luck?
Any chance something is different about a motorbike?

Could I still TRY to sue in small claims for fraud?
