Default Package got seized by custom and received cease & desist letter

Hi guys, need your advice. I purchased stuff from china website LAST YEAR, and it was seized by custom, received seizure letter and telling me it was counterfeit item, I ignore the letter let them destroy it.

And now i received attorney letter behalf of the brand company (not registered mail) telling me to cease and desist and they want me to call them/ response them. They demanding $1000 for those items. And they say if no replay they ready to lawsuit me in 10 days. I purchased this items for gift.

What should i do? Ignore it or call them? Maybe someone had same experience? Any input i really truly appreciated it.

I’m confused. You ordered stuff from a company in China and it was seized and destroyed bc it was fake. So who is suing you?

Hi thanks for your replay, the attorney (behalf of the brand) send me cease&desist letter after the package was seized by custom last year, want me to call them. Should i ignore or call them? Do you have any experience with this issue?

As noted on this forum by many people it is very difficult for the companies to successfully sue and prove the case in that kind of situation.

Normally if you are not ordering the items further, the company just goes away when you refuse to pay.

Well, if you're scared to death maybe it's time to consult with an attorney.

There’s a piece of this story we’re missing. If customs intercepted and destroyed something OP bought in good faith, OP should be suing for the return of the purchase money.

In this case if you are sure that the item was illegal you can ignore the cease and desist letter received from the attorney as it was not a registered one. They could not sue you for this matter.
