You've got a long way to go before filing a complaint against your insurance company.

First we have to figure out whether the omission was your own fault.

When you bought your policy did you bother to read it and confirm that you had the coverage you wanted? I'm guessing not.

Read it now. If it is true that you don't have collision coverage and you didn't keep a copy of the application that you signed ask your agent for it and see if it included collision coverage.

Again, you should have read and understood the application that you signed and corrected any omissions of coverage that you wanted.

If you signed an application that didn't include collision coverage then the presumption is that you bought the coverage that you wanted and didn't want collision coverage at the time.

Bottom line: It was up to you to make sure you got the coverage you wanted when you bought it.

Address that issue when you come back.

What a coincidence. Both he AND his neighbor had vehicle accidents. What a small world.

In this regard you should check your insurance agreement that collision is mentioned as coverage under the policy. If collision is not mentioned in your agreement you could not claim for that damage.

People mess up what coverage they have ALL the time.
They just don't take the proper time to understand and review everything.

I worked in an insurance office for seven years and I saw it every week.
