Default Can a police officer himself order you to appear at the police station?

Can a police officer himself order you to appear at the police station after you get a ticket? And bring your ID, social security card and insurance.

That seems really weird and unusual to me.
Shouldn't a court be the one giving orders if any?
He is not a judge.

Yes, he can also just arrest you until he can confirm your ID.

If the Police officer asked so, you are required to appear at the station with your ID and other documents. If the Officer is convinced you may get your ticket dropped.

If you did not have identification he can, but otherwise it would be a little odd I must say.

Of course, it would help to know your state and what the circumstances were.
