I ma facing the same situation.
You can "ask."

But since you haven't revealed your location (or even the type of claim or policy) I have no idea what your un-named state or country requires of insurance companies.

As to why any claim takes various amounts of time, it depends on the type of claim, the type of coverage, the size of the claim and what you and your insurance claim rep have been doing and saying during the claim process which is information that neither you nor the other poster have revealed.

I was not paid by allstate for 8 months and sued in small claims. I got the amount and a 400 dollar extra payment from the judge.

Jeez. Another one with no details.

Without details your statement means NOTHING with regard to the original poster's situation. Truth be told, even with details, would still probably mean nothing with regard to the original poster's situation.

I think the simple basic point is that if something does not seem right, you likely do have a legal remedy.

You had to necro-post an 8 month old thread just to say that?

Jeez. Some people just don't have any common sense.

I am having a difficult time with State Farm, though in the past they were always quite good for me.
But now I have an insurance issue regarding our deceased father and they are bouncing me from one division to the next. Every time it is a new person.
I have spend over 7 hours on the phone.
What can i do to cut through the bureaucracy on this?
Any helpful hints?

I would suggest you put up with a bit more bureaucracy and see if they can get you back on track, but if it is really impossible you can file a complaint with your state's Insurance Commissioner--or you could even file in small claims court for damages if you are not getting paid an amount that is due.

It is unusual to hear that about SF as they are normally pretty good.
