Not a great market for lawyers now in the US unless you have really top grades and schools involved.

Can you still become a lawyer in California without actually going to law school?

Or has that changed? I see what seems to be conflicting info??

Yes California at a minimum allows it.

There is some further discussion on this forum, search around.

But it still is not easy, you must pass the Bar Exam and you must spend time in training.

In the end law school just might be easier. But if you are a real whiz kid the opportunity is there.

How NOT to become a lawyer is a better thread, that's the one I want to read!

We should go back to the old days where you just worked for a lawyer for some years and THEN you became a lawyer. Or at least have that option, I like that idea and it seems more fair.

There is some other discussion about that on this forum.
That will be difficult to do unless there is some major change in the law.

Too many people go into law just for the supposed money and end up with a lifetime of misery.

I think lawyers are becoming obsolete, computers will do it all.
                          And that's fine by me.

It seems difficult with so many schools to figure out which is best for me?
I can't see any real easy way to determine that.

Don't do it just for the money, or you will never be happy. Because being a lawyer comes with many, many hours of work, and and if it's not something you enjoy it will just be torture.

I wonder if that new chat GPT will just throw a lot of the lawyers out of work? Interesting isn't it?
