Default Domestic violence in Texas, for verbal abuse

Can somebody be convicted of domestic violence in Texas for verbal abuse only, but no physical hitting?

Is that possible? or does the law simply not allow such a thing?
Thanks!

Why do you care?

Look up the statutes and read the law. Google is your friend.

Verbal abuse will also consider as domestic violence as it comes under the category of psychological or mental abuse. The victim can file a complaint of domestic violence based on verbal abuse.

Gross oversimplification.

Yes extreme verbal abuse absolutely can be classified as domestic violence.
And the abuser can be punished in many jurisdictions. It's not as clear cut as physical violence sometimes but it is possible absolutely.

If it does not include a threat of violence many jurisdictions will not treat it as domestic violence for prosecution purposes--even if it obviously is morally very wrong.
