Default Can I ban my step-sister from entering the assisted living?

Ohio
Can I ban my step-sister from entering the assisted living of my mother?
Every time my step sister goes she causes a ruckus with the staff.
I have the DPOA and the health care poa.

I wish to inform you that you may not stop your step sister from entering because you are not guardian for your mother. Further as your mother is adult thus either she may refuse or person managing assisted living my do so. In case of POA it will be seen for what purpose such power of attorney was granted to you. If your POA empowers you to restrict your step sister from entering then you may take steps to stop her.

Then it's up to the staff/management to take the appropriate action.

The authorize you to act for your mother. Doesn't compel anybody to do what you want them to, much less your sister.

If you are a guardian you can ban somebody in most states, but not with a DPOA.

If you are a legal guardian you can ban visits. Otherwise not, unless a local facility rule has been violated and THEY ban her.

A DPOA, is a power of attorney that enables a trusted person to handle your affairs if you become mentally incapable. However, this cannot be used to curtail the rights of your sister in visiting her mother as long as it does not affect the mother directly.
