Default File bankruptcy in Canada and then in the USA

If I declare bankruptcy in Canada, can i then file for bankruptcy in the USA if I now live there?

I filed 3 years ago in Canada.

I know in the US there is some seven year rule or something before you can file twice but does a Canadian bankruptcy count?
