Default Lawsuit over unsafe tuna?

The gov now apparently says that eating to much tuna can cause problems for health.

I ate 3 cans of tuna every day for 5 years and now I seem to have some build up of mercury in my body.

Can I sue for that? as the tuna package never had any such warning.

Yes, you can sue for that. Anybody can sue anybody for anything. Whether you win or not is impossible to predict.

I found a couple of old articles about people suing for the mercury accumulation in their bodies.

https://legalnewsline.com/stories/51...ercury-lawsuit

https://www.delish.com/food/news/a38...rcury-lawsuit/

You'll have to do some of your own research to find out the outcomes of those cases.

You can also google something like "tuna mercury lawyer" because you'll need a lawyer for something this complicated.

I wish to inform you that last year, the state of California sued the nation's big three tuna producers, demanding they place warnings on cans of albacore and light tuna or post signs in grocery aisles to inform state residents that the products contain mercury. The state alleges the firms are violating a state law requiring business to warn people before exposing them to carcinogens or reproductive toxins. The case is continuing. Further, you may contact an attorney or the FDA and seek guidance in the matter.

On many packages, there seems to be no warning for pregnant women or those nursing.

That seems really dangerous.

When I was having my first child, in 1981, my dr warned me about eating tuna. It seems the info was was out there.

You can take up the matter with the Bureau of Consumer Protection. It's mandate is to protect consumers against unfair or deceptive acts or practices in commerce. With the written consent of the Commission, Bureau attorneys enforce federal laws related to consumer affairs and rules promulgated by the Federal Trade Commission. The Bureau's functions include investigations, enforcement actions, and consumer and business education. Areas of principal concern for this bureau are: advertising and marketing, financial products and practices, telemarketing fraud, privacy and identity protection, etc.

I personally also think the tuna products should be gently labeled with these warnings because it not really obvious if you are not looking for the issue.

I CAN TELL YOU IT IS NOT SAFE IMO AND YOU NEED TO LIMIT YOUR CONSUMPTION.

I have had medical problems because of all the pollutants in commercial tuna, including mercury.

If you must eat it, limit it to 1 or 2 cans a week.

The US gov is too quiet on this issue because of the tuna business lobby.

Out there - but not everywhere.

Is there any tuna that is free of all these chemicals and that is legally certified as such? (certified by a credible government or agency)

I would certainly pay more for it.
