Default Injury morning of first day starting job

Ohio

Is a firm liable if I am injured in the morning of my first day of work, but before I met with HR and signed everything?

I was there to begin work and was hit by a roof panel that fell on me.

I am covered by them right? They said it was very odd and they are looking at the situation.

I wish to inform you that your employer is liable to compensate you for injury caused because of fall of roof panel. Even if you were not an employee at the time of injury then also you can claim compensation because injury has been caused because of negligence of your employer. Liability to pay compensation is because of negligence.

There is no looking into it. You're covered by Workers Comp from minute one on the job. It's the law.

Fill out this form, keep a copy, give one to your boss and ask that he get it to the Workers Compensation insurance company ASAP.

https://www.bwc.ohio.gov/downloads/b...I-20020723.pdf

If your employer won't cooperate immediately call the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation for assistance and email a copy of the report.

https://info.bwc.ohio.gov/wps/portal...vZ0FBIS9nQSEh/

Don't let anybody talk you out of, or delaying, getting your claim and treatment started.

Please go away. You are so wrong, so often, I can't imagine why the site owners don't ban you.

The only recourse an employee has against an employer is Workers Compensation which has nothing to do with negligence. Workers Compensation is the law in all 50 states.

Well it is not 100% certain the person was an employee at the time of the accident.

Even by the way they wrote the question it raises some uncertainly.

Workers compensation is not the law in all 50 states. See Texas, for one.

Says he:

"the morning of my first day of work,"

"I was there to begin work"

Notice the word "work" in those two sentences?

I am seeing Texas. Texas has a comprehensive Workers Compensation statute not the least of which is Section 402.021:

https://law.justia.com/codes/texas/2...-5/subtitle-a/

So, yes, it is the law in Texas.
