Who legally makes the insurance laws in New York?

Who legally makes most or all of the insurance laws in New York?

Is there a commission or something or is it just the state legislature or how does that work and where can I effectively make a suggestion for some new laws or changes?

    Thank you!!

I wish to inform you that as a first step a senate determine what law is required. After basic determination then bill is drafted by specialized team present at Legislative Bill Drafting Commission. After bill is drafted then it has to pass senate after which it may become a law. You may provide your suggestion to your senator who may represent your views in front of various authorities.

The state legislature. The following website explains the process.

And How You Can HelpThe job of the Senate is to work with the Assembly and the Governor to enact, amend or repeal statutes which make up the body of laws within which we live. This involves drafting, discussing and approving bills and resolutions. This document is intended to help you better understand the process, and more significantly, to help you identify those points

You contact the legislator who represents your district and make your suggestions. The reality is that your suggestions will probably wind up in the trash unless you have thousands of voters behind you who can influence your legislator or you have a ton of money to contribute to his campaign.

NY apparently does not have an initiative or referendum system whereby the voters can collectively influence the enactment or repeal of laws.

You're ignoring the State Assembly but that's not a surprise.

I would suggest also sending a copy of your issue or suggestion to the local media.

One good news article could help make it all happen!

You don't have to deal only with elected lawmakers.

State representatives' offices are usually eager to at least pretend they are interested.

Another useless comment on an old thread.

              Sigh.
