Default Can I keep the paycheck?

Puerto Rico

I accepted a job position but I declined it after figure out that was a work from home and remote position. They sent me a paycheck but I haven't work for them. Do I can get the money or just letting it expire.

I wish to inform you that if you have not worked and check was sent by mistake then you may not claim money. In this regard you may first inform that employer that you have received check from them and if it was sent by mistake or error they may inform you. You may further communicate that in absence of any objection from your that employer you may believe that check is sent to you so that you may receive payment and then withdraw funds. If your employer demand back the money then you may have to return the amount claimed.

If you had not worked for them it is good to let it expire by not accepting the payment. You should inform them that you are not accepting the payment with reason and ask them a relieving letter in order to avoid future disputes.

Send it back. If you didn't do any work then there should not be a check sent.

And they will have a right to get the funds back from you if you try to cash it.

It might also be a check cashing scam by the way. BE CAREFUL.

Odd they sent a check before you did any work.
I wouldn't doubt the check is fake.

After almost three months I doubt the OP cares about your useless comment.

If he's even still around.
