Default Truck threw up a rock and broke my windshield

A truck from its wheel shot a rock up at me on the highway and broke my windshield yesterday.

I wrote down the name of the firm and the state and license of the truck.
What should I do next?
Can I make them pay for the windshield?
How do I prove it was them, though I saw it clear as day!
I have a big crack on the windshield now.

I wish to inform you that you may file a complaint with police as damage has been caused by truck on your car. Further in order to claim compensation you may file a civil action. You may prove accident through mobile location of drivers at the time of accident. Further and camera installed at any nearly area may show condition of your vehicle before accident and after accident and further location of both vehicles.

Call the company and report. Ask them to pay for replacing the windshield.

If they say no then your option is to sue them in small claims court or have your insurance cover it or pay for it yourself.

No, you can't "make" them pay.

Even if you managed to get a court judgment, you might find it impossible to collect.

The reality of these kinds of things is that you typically end up paying for your own windshield or having your insurance pay for it.

In my opinion it is better to cover the damage through your insurance rather than trying to sue the company.

Maybe not "better" but probably necessary.

I faced a similar situation in Virginia some years back and when I called the number on the truck--how is my driving call xxxx ?-- the company paid the windshield cost in 14 days. Maybe I was just lucky. But they seemed quite accommodating.

I am filing in small claims based on a I phone picture I took at the moment of the rock flying up.

That sounds rather improbable.

In the future if you have a legal question start your own thread instead of hijacking someone else's.

The "me too" crowd in this forum is ridiculous.
