Default Insurer of 19 yrs old versus 24 years old

Can a car insurer in New York charge more to a person for being 19 yrs old -- ie more than a relative in the same location with the same basic car who is 24 years old?

I wish to inform you that as you age, your auto insurance expenditures shift. Typically, auto insurance is more costly for teenage drivers, as car insurers see inexperienced drivers as more risky. In New York, car coverage costs $5,370 annually for a 16-year-old driver, and only $1,347 per annum for a client in their 50s.

Absolutely. It’s called underwriting. Younger drivers get into more accidents on average, so their rates are higher.

Yes, age is a factor in determining the insurance coverage for vehicles.
