Default I became sick after two weeks at work

I became sick after two weeks at work and I have been in the hospital now for 6 weeks.

My employer is saying that only will pay me for the first 2 weeks--is that legal?

Of course it is.

Do you have short- or long-term disability insurance? If not, then why do you expect your employer to pay you when you're not able to work?

Are you saying that the illness is work-related?

If you believe your illness to be work-related, contact your employer to find out if they carry workers compensation. If so, file a claim.

If it’s not work related you may soon find yourself unemployed.

If your sickness is work related your employer is liable to pay in accordance with the terms and conditions of the employment contract. If it is no work related your employer is not liable to pay.

What employment contract? None was mentioned.

No, that's ridiculous.

No such thing "must" exist.

Do they have an HR dept?
Talk to them.
What were you told about benefits and insurance when you joined?
Is there an employee handbook with policies etc?
