Default Legalisation/Appostille

Hi I am from Europe and my husband British we got married in Sri Lanka 10 years ago. Sri Lanka marriage certificate hasn't got any apostille and it's even not certified copy! Now I am checking my documents and it's seems that where are no apostille on my documents nether only translations to English. Now I understand that I needed to obtain legalisation from my Emmbasy. Did I commit a crime? We are not want divorce or annulment just to register our marriage. Thank you.

I wish to inform you that Sri Lanka is not a member of the Hague Apostille Convention. You may get the English translation of the marriage certificate notarized by the embassy/consulate of Sri Lanka nearest to you. Alternatively, you may contact an attorney and seek guidance.
