Do you need to just register with the US state as a foreign corporation?

My question is this. If you are a non-profit organization that was incorparated say in Georgia and you wanted to do business in Alabama what do you have to do? Do you need to just register with the state of Alabama as a foreign corporation or is there something else that you must do?

Yes that is all you need to do unless you start to have a physical presence there and actively solicit there.

Then you may need to have the state issue approvals for that. In fact you normally would need permissions.

So say we are receiving grants and doing business in the state of Alabama what kind of premission would we need a Certificate of Authority or is there something else that we would need?
