I was never served summons... How do I prove that I was never notified?

this evening my ex came accompanied with the police dept stating that i had to surrender the kids to him. the police stated that i was not present in todays custody hearing. i however was never even served not by mail or in person. now the judge is looking at me in a bad light. how do i prove that i was never ever notified? and what do i do now. the next court date is next month at the end.

File a motion with the court requesting that the order be reversed because you were not notified of the hearing.
