Default Bst route to protect very simply (if any) intellectual property in China?

Hello, I wanted to know the best route to go to protect very simply (if any) intellectual property in China with a company who describes themselves as both manufacturer/trading co. I am in the United States, specifically California registered as a Sole Proprietor soon to be LLC.

I am taking a pendant necklace out of the manufacturer’s catalogue and I am having them attach it to a card that will say an inspirational paragraph on it that corresponds to the necklace image, the paragraph is something that I authored. It’s not a new concept, jewelry on cards has been done before. This pendant will also have a name that I also came up with. This pendant name will be the name of a line of 4 pendant designs.

I wish to inform you that you may file a copyright in the United States and thereafter through the USPTO seek copyright protection in China. You may contact an attorney and seek guidance.

You will have some limited automatic protection as to the words and design once you start using it. Others cannot just copy your words exactly.

But the overall concept as you noted will not be protected unless you file and get such protection formally.
