Exclamation ''Freak with a leash" school discrimination problems.

Indiana- At school I walk my boyfriend on a leash. It is a symbol of our love and is not sexual. We don't use the leash during class so it is not a distraction to learning. No written law exists in our school prohibiting collars and/or leashes. It is a public school. Everything was fine until today when my boyfriend was called into the office and was told never to wear the leash and collar again. Can the principal legally do that and if so what law is on their side?

I wish to inform you that the provisions of IC 20-33-8-8 will have jurisdiction in this matter. In all matters relating to the discipline and conduct of students, school corporation personnel have the right to take any disciplinary action necessary to promote student conduct that conforms with an orderly and effective educational system.

Yes, the school can establish rules of order that prohibit you and your BF from putting on a freak show in school to get attention and distract everyone from their purpose there which is an education.

It is not for attention, and I would prefer if you didn't put accusations of it being a part of an attention seeking freak show. Some people wear wedding rings as a symbol of love.I wear a ring and he wears a collar. I would also like to state the title is freak with a leash because we were getting bullied not because i think its weird or freaky.

It's not in the current guidelines bc no one imagined it would be an issue. I'd put money on it being there next year.

Meanwhile schools have wide discretion about what is or is not acceptable. It's likely someone finally complained. They have every right to put such behavior to a stop. I can't imagine why the let it go at all.

The law is on the side of the school when it comes to conduct they find objectionable. In YOUR mind it is a sign of 'love' to walk your boyfriend on a leash like a dog.

In the eyes of the school it is a spectacle they do not want on their grounds.

Dogs are not allowed on the school grounds, I bet. The school obviously does not want one of their students walked on collar and leash like a dog, either.

Save your S&M, Sub/Dom scene for other venues where it is acceptable.

Is there any law that is on my side at all?

No. The school has an obligation to ALL students. It's certainly not part of the socialization skills they hope to see when one person treats another in such a dominant, overbearing fashion (regardless of consent).

Save your "affection" for outside of school.

Sweety, I used to break canes over women. I certainly did not do it while they were sitting at their desk or in the operating room. You have absolutely no chance of the school allowing you to make your boyfriend look like a moron in school.
