Default Consultancy agreement review (California)

Hi,

I am an independent contractor (S-corp, myself as the only employee) with a sole client based in Europe. I would like to relocate from the east coast to California but have been told that I will not be able to operate as an independent contractor in California due to stricter regulations. I am looking for someone who can review my consultancy agreement and let me know if its possible for me to move to California and keep working as an independent contractor for my existing client.

I would appreciate if someone could point me in the right directed regarding who to contact for something like this.

Many thanks!

Are you really and truly an independent contractor or do you work just for the client like an employee would normally work (regardless of what the contract may say)?

Because CA will look at that, if the issue gets into anybody's hands for whatever reason.

That would be a first key issue.

I personally doubt you would have too much of an issue if you are paying all your taxes properly and the client is in Europe. You might try clicking "Contact Us" at the bottom of the page and see if the staff there could have somebody briefly look at it for you.

Hi Miranda,

Thanks for your reply. I would say it's more like an employee would normally work. Since the company is based in Europe is there a way around this you think? The company is not willing to open up operations in the US just so they can hire me as an employee.

Thanks!
