Default Can I write an appeal myself?

Can I write an appeal myself or is that something that ALWAYS requires a lawyer to do as a practical matter?

I was convicted of "structuring" i.e. structuring payments under 10,000 dollars to avoid IRS notifications.

Everything else they charged was thrown out.

(Frankly I don't believe structuring should even be crime. At least not in my circumstances)

Of course you can do it yourself, however I put your chances of doing it correctly at ZERO.

You need an attorney.

I wish to inform you that you may self represent yourself in the appeal. It is called pro se status. You may take guidance from online court guide for pro se litigants and/or approach Legal Aid and write your appeal brief.

Agree with Highwayman, you need an attorney to file the appeal.

This is completely useless.

Depending on the area of law, many attorneys won't even touch appeals. They refer their clients to attorneys that specialize in appeals.
