Default Proving a place is a speed trap

Does proving a place is a speed trap (with dozens of tickets each week) sometimes get you out of a ticket.

At one small town the speed goes from 55 to 25 with warning of just one sign.
How can one even slow down that fast?

Hardly.

That's all that's required.

All modern motor vehicles are equipped with brakes. Use them and you slow down - you can even slow down pretty fast if necessary.

And even worse, consider that the judge is in the same town, so it certainly is not the first time he's seen that.

By actually driving 55 mph and paying attention to what's going on up ahead.

But if you, like a lot of drivers, go 65 mph or better in a 55 mph zone that 25 mph sign will get you nailed every time.

I saw one place in Florida where they fired the whole town government and the state and feds came in because it was SO bad and a purposeful speed trap.

AND they embezzled half of what they collected on their speed trap.

So don't assume it's all legit!

Don't assume that it isn't just because you read one story about town corruption.

I've driven through 100s, maybe thousands, of small towns and always managed to slow down soon enough to be at the next sign's speed limit.

Duh, small town coming up, I should slow down and pay attention. Not rocket science.
