Default Can she legally keep him from contacting his children?

My son is in a veterans hospital for ptsd and alcohol abuse treatment. He spent a year in Iraq and has had emotional problems at times since then. He has two children ages 3 1/2 years, and 7 months. His wife has cut off telephone communication between him and his daughters, his oldest daughter is very much a daddy's girl, and I know this is affecting her. Is this okay for his wife to do this to him, and can she legally keep him from contacting his children?

Is it okay? No.

Well, she's in control right now since he's in the hospital. What happens when he gets out?? When is that expected to happen?

Probably not, but it's going to take a judge's order to fix that.

No reason that an inpatient at a VA hospital can't hire a lawyer.

The wife of your son could not legally keep him away from the kids without a court order. Please check if any order is existing in favour of his wife.

Just the threat having a lawyer intervene may resolve the issue.
Ask around the VA if there is some local free legal help for vets that you might also get.
She cannot cut your contact with your child.
