They normally need to send a notice to the address on file with the court, and you are responsible for keeping that address correct and current.

But in emergencies it may also be up to you to check in and verify dates.
Like after a fire at the courthouse.

I've been through the same issue.

Review the court's local rules, they are likely online.
It will help give you some argument if you missed a date or something.

First, it really depends on who actually changed your court date and why. When you say "the court," it normally refers to the judge and his/her staff only. The judge is incredibly powerful in that he/she has wide discretion to run the calendar and court proceedings in the way he/she believes is best. You can certainly complain about the failure to provide notice, but you will not likely get your case dismissed on the basis that the court has rescheduled the matter or adjourned the matter a few times. If, on the other hand, the party bringing the case against you is the one asking for repeated adjournments, you may be able to have it dismissed for failure to prosecute. It really depends on a number of issues. But merely inconveniencing you on a few occasions is not normally enough to have a legal matter dismissed altogether.

That is certainly the view of my nasty judge.

All dates at my court (for any person) have been canceled for next month but I only learned that when I called the clerk's office and got a recording.
