Default Can a pharmacist be sued for dispensing the wrong drug?

Can a pharmacist be sued for dispensing the wrong drug?
I took a blood pressure drug for two weeks that was supposed to be an antibiotic.

I don't know what damage occurred if any?

If you use the prescription from a medical practitioner to bought the drug and the pharmacist dispenses wrong drug other than that mentioned in the prescription and you suffered physical issues from the usage of that wrong drug, you can file a case against the pharmacist for damages.

Probably none. If your blood pressure got too low, you'd know it because the symptoms include:

  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Fainting (syncope)
  • Blurred vision
  • Nausea
  • Fatigue
  • Lack of concentration

Those errors are usually caught at least by the patient with all the extensive documents and instructions one receives, and pictures and labeling of the pills.

But if it really happened AND you were damaged or need tests or medical check-ups then yes you can hold them liable for the costs. Likely they will volunteer to pay for a check up for you.
