Default Subpoenas from wife in the USA

Can my wife issue a subpoena to me in Europe from a US divorce court proceeding?
Would I be forced to go to the USA then?
And if so who pays for that?

Yes.

No.

But the consequence of not responding is likely to be that she gets the divorce and full custody by default.

You pay for the trip if you decide to go.

She has to follow the Hague Convention however in order to serve a subpoena properly, and that can be a cumbersome process unless she has skilled (and likely expensive) legal counsel.

It is possible to issue a subpoena from US Court to Europe regarding divorce. If a subpoena is issued in your name you are required to appear before the court in person or through an attorney.

In practice those "intercontinental" subpoenas are not that easy to manage and enforce.
Its possible yes but not that common in family law cases.

If she send one do not respond until you verify that it is valid because if you respond you may waive any objections.

I would say you can blow her off unless your local court issues an order to you !!

They must go through the UK courts first.
