Default Who pays the costs as opposed to legal fees?

Who pays the costs, as opposed to legal fees, in a PI case when the lawyer takes the case on contingency.

Does the law firm pay all costs - or would I pay some or all costs?

Depends on the contingency agreement which you should read and understand before signing.

Some will charge the lawyer's percentage PLUS expenses. Others might charge the lawyer's percentage including expenses.

The time to figure that out is before you hire the lawyer and get the agreement in writing.

Don't get stuck paying costs. The PI lawyer should pick those up, keep shopping around if not.

The attorney is not going to give anything away. Whatever expenses are incurred come out of the client's wallet.

You're very naive.

If you have an agreement with the lawyer the terms in it states the payment plans. You can peruse the agreement and make suggestions.
