It seems the prison system should assist with this.
This is the reason so many people end up going back, because they can't make it work on the outside. Sadly I saw it as well in my own extended family.

In CA there is some assistance offered.
My nephew got a good deal actually.
Ask around and do not assume there are no resources available.
