Default Can I fire a summer worker if he fails to show?

NY

Can I just on the spot fire a summer worker if he fails to show 3 times with no excuse?

Does any law prevent me from doing this ASAP!

We are a small 4 person business.

You could have, and should have, fired him the first time.

No law prevents you from firing him.

I wish to inform you that New York is an “employment-at-will” state. Therefore, an employer may generally terminate an employment relationship at any time and for any reason, unless a law or agreement provides otherwise. For example, a federal or state law, collective bargaining agreement, or individual employment contract may place limitations on an otherwise at-will relationship. You may contact an attorney and seek guidance.

If you made an employee handbook check that as well as sometimes you can be bound by that.
But I agree that generally there is no need to put up with that behavior.
