Re: Laws on bait traps for rabbits

Is it legal to set rabbit traps that actually kill the rabbit, inside the city limits of Houston TX?

I wish to inform you that under Houston City Code Sec. 6-6 you may not trap wild animals. Wild animals include Coyotes under which rabbit is classified. Hence trapping of animal in a manner which kills it may not be allowed under law in Houston.

Hmm, so do you have to call the city to remove the pest?

Are they really gonna come for a pesky rabbit?

        Eh, What's Up, Doc?

Look, Elmer Fudd, if you put the rabbit pellets down the hole, you'll never see a dead rabbit, so nobody will know if you don't tell.

Rabbits in the city seem like they should be deemed a "pest" to my mind.

You can use rabbit repellents instead of traps, so you can get rid of rabbits at the same time will not come under violation of law.

Aww that's cruel. A tiny little baby rabbit isn't going to hurt anything!
You all should enjoy that he is there hopping around!

                I don't know about that.

Have you ever seen the documentary film "Night of the Lepus"?

Well they sell the darn critters for food at my neighborhood deli, so I guess you can certainly kill them for that!

Is that true in almost every city that you can't set bait traps for rabbits?
                    Or is Houston an exception?
