My daughter is accused of changing the price tags on some pieces of clothing at Walmart.
Reducing the price of course.

She says she did NOT do it and Walmart has not show any proof or video but they say she did it. And they are charging her with theft.
What should I do as her father?

I wish to inform you that as a first step police will investigate the matter. Walmart will first report matter to police about possible theft. Your daughter may inform law enforcement that Walmart must provide evidence about her role in change of price tags. However if law enforcement agencies file a case against your daughter then she may file for dismissal of charges against her on the ground that she does not agree to charges against her and other party had failed to provide any evidence and hence case must be dismissed.

They do not need to show you any proof. Her lawyer presumably would get it during discovery. He would also likely get her diversion and community service if he is any good. If you cannot afford one for her, see if you fall under guidelines for a court appointed attorney. You can bet they showed the police those videos or they would not have charged her. It is common for teens to lie about being caught.

You definitely want to have experienced, well-regarded legal counsel involved.
This is not something to try to save money on.
This terrible mistake can likely be rectified but you need an expert to deal with the criminal law system.

You can notify the shop management regarding the incident that your daughter is innocent and also inform that you will sue them for wrongful accusation. If your daughter signed any paper to the store after the incident, it is highly necessary to consult a lawyer in this regard to defend the case.

I have seen items with the wrong price tags many times, or price tags that were falling off seemingly. And then mixed up.
Maybe she IS telling the truth.
Odder things gave happened.
I would certainly want to see the proof!

This actuation can be complicated, and that's why you need legal counsel to assess what to do or not to do.
It is certainly not clear to any of us what actually happened with 100% certainty, but legal counsel can assess the options.

No, no one knows. The OP is long gone. Posting to three year old threads hoping to get an answer is kind of dumb, to say the least.

If you have a legal question start your own thread.
